The sloop Restaurasjonen

"Restaurasjonen"

In 1825, the sloop Restaurasjonen sailed to America with Norway's first emmigrants.

Later, in the 19th century, Norwegian immigrants looking to preserve their heritage and obtain insurance for their families founded the Sons of Norway in Minnesota. The Restauration Lodge, named after the ship Restaurasjonen, was established in Cedar Rapids, Iowa by a small group of mostly second generation Norwegians looking again to preserve their heritage that was so important to their grandparents.

The lodge is located in the First District and was the five hundred and forty eighth lodge to be chartered (thus 1-548).
